Sales Terms
- Member (Mineralogical Society of America (MSA), Clay Minerals Society (CMS), and the Geochemical Society (GS)) discounts will be calculated into the prices, and are explained where prices are shown. The nonmember price applies to all other individuals and organizations. MSA, CMS, and GS member discounts are given with the understanding that the books are not to be resold for more than the MSA, CMS and GS member discount price and any shipping costs.
- Payment to The Mineralogical Society of America may be made by check (in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank with electronically readable routing and account numbers printed on the check), money order, UNESCO coupons, or Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express or UnionPay (银联) credit cards.
- Make checks payable to "The Mineralogical Society of America". Send to the address below.
- Credit card payment information can be mailed, faxed, or called to the contact information below. Tell us: Card Number; Expiration Date; Card Verification Value (last 3 digits above signature panel on Visa/MC, 4 digits to upper right of Amex number); name that appears on card.
- If you remit by bank check, overseas money order, or some other indirect or electronic funds transfer, include your name and any MSA invoice or account number in the bank transfer advice so that we will be able to recognize your payment. Make these the VERY FIRST pieces of information in the advice field! Banks often have a limited number of characters (15-30) that can be included in this field. It is wise to send a separate notice to the Business Office about your order. Do not expect the banks to do this. They will not. Tell us what the money is for, date and form of payment being sent, and originating bank.
- Prepay all bank fees. The Mineralogical Society of America will not accept payments less than the amount due on the invoice! If your organization does not pay bank fees, do not pay by bank transfer. Instead, pay by check or credit card. If you cannot prepay the bank fees, add $30.00 US to the invoice amount to pay for the fees that will be deducted. To prepay bank fees, tell the bank the amount that is to be received by MSA. (Example: Tell the bank you want MSA to receive $375, not that you want to send a bank transfer of $375 to MSA.)
- Banks in the USA do not issue IBANs. Thus, for your USD payments, traditional bank codes (such as Swift or ABA numbers) and account numbers will continue to be used. The information for the electronic fund transfers is:

- MSA cannot be responsible for cash sent through the mail.
- There are no consignment shipments.
- You will be given 1-2-3 choices for the methods and costs of shipping your order depending on the shipping address you have entered. Please notice the estimated shipping times, whether or not there is tracking capabilities, and the cost when you place your order. The method of shipping cannot be changed once your order is shipped. Contact the MSA Business Office if you need to use your own shipping account. Contact information is given below.
- You are responsible for providing a correct delivery address for your order and will be asked to pay any re-shipping cost on orders that are returned because of a bad or incomplete address or a refused delivery.
- If you require a special custom declaration for a shipment, please indicate this in your order and the information or paperwork required. However, the buyer is responsible for clearance of items and for any and all custom or import duties, VAT, or other fees, tariff or taxes that may be charged upon delivery.
- Damaged or defective items may be returned for replacement at no charge. MSA does not accept returns for other reasons nor for refunds. Claims for replacement copies will be honored if the request is received within 120 days of the order date for books and within 120 days of the mailing date of the journal. An issue of the journal is generally mailed the month of its cover date. If we begin to record an excessive number of claims for an account, we will request that the correctness of the mailing address and the receiving procedures be checked and verified. If losses continue at a high rate after that, then, for any future claims for the same issues, replacements will not be sent until a more secure address is provided to us. If the same address is to be used, we will ask for payment for any claim issues sent to it.
- Subscription cancellations are accepted any time, but a refund or credit is not given for the remaining dues period or issues once the issues from that volume begin production and shipping.
